Love Calculator by Name & Date of Birth — Free Vedic Love Compatibility Test
Most love calculators give you a number. A percentage. Sometimes a color.
That number means nothing on its own.
True love compatibility in Vedic astrology comes from matching nakshatra (birth star), rashi (moon sign), and planetary birth chart positions—using both your name’s vibration and date of birth for a complete picture.
This calculator combines both methods. Enter your names for a quick numerology reading. Add dates of birth for a comprehensive Vedic compatibility score: nakshatra, element, and planetary harmony.
I have used these same principles in over 50000 consultations across 15 years of practice. What the numbers show is often exactly what the couple already senses, but cannot put into words.
Note: This calculator gives you an initial reading. For a full kundli compatibility analysis — including dosha checks, Dasha period alignment, and navamsa chart review — book a personal consultation.
How This Love Compatibility Calculator Works
The calculator runs two analyses simultaneously.
Name-based analysis uses Vedic numerology. Each letter in your name carries a numerical value. The combined values of both names produce a compatibility score. This is quick and useful — but it only reflects the surface of who you are.
Date-of-birth analysis goes deeper. Your birth date determines your rashi (moon sign) and your nakshatra. The 27 nakshatras each carry specific qualities — temperament, energy, and emotional nature. In Vedic astrology, two nakshatras are compared using a well-developed system to assess their interaction.
The score you see combines both readings. A high score does not guarantee a trouble-free relationship. A lower score does not mean the relationship will fail. What it shows is the natural compatibility between two individuals at the level of their planetary blueprint.
Varna (spiritual and psychological compatibility) — are your life approaches aligned?
Tara (birth star compatibility) — how your nakshatras interact across 9 key categories
Graha Maitri (planetary friendship) — the relationship between your moon sign lords
A full kundli milan covers all 36 gunas across 8 categories. This calculator gives you a strong directional reading. A full analysis requires your precise birth time and place.
Scores run from 0 to 100 percent. Here is how to read them.
Score Range | Reading | What It Means |
90–100% | Excellent | Strong natural alignment. Both nakshatras and planetary lords are in harmony. Good foundation for a lasting relationship. |
70–89% | Good | Solid compatibility with minor friction points. Most couples in long, stable relationships fall here. |
50–69% | Moderate | Workable compatibility. Some differences in temperament or emotional approach. Communication and mutual respect matter more here. |
Below 50% | Challenging | Notable incompatibilities exist. This does not rule out a relationship — but it calls for a deeper look. A kundli consultation is recommended before major decisions. |
One thing I tell every couple: the score is a starting point, not a verdict. I have seen couples with 62% scores build extraordinarily strong marriages. I have seen 88% scores that still came apart. The planets indicate tendencies. Human choices shape outcomes.
Name compatibility is the fastest read. It uses the numerical value of letters in both names. It is useful for a quick check. Think of it like taking your pulse rather than doing a full blood panel.
Date-of-birth compatibility is more detailed: your birth date determines your nakshatra and rashi. Nakshatra, a key Vedic astrology factor, reflects your emotional nature, subconscious patterns, and responses to stress and intimacy.
When the two methods give different scores, I always go with the birth date reading. Names can change. Your nakshatra does not.
If you do not know your exact birth time, date-of-birth analysis still provides a strong directional reading. Birth time is necessary for the ascendant and precise house calculations, but for nakshatra and moon sign matching—which drive most of the compatibility score—the date alone is usually sufficient.
Want to know if your compatibility extends to the timing of marriage? Your Dasha periods and the 7th house in your birth chart carry the answer. Read our guide to Future Spouse Prediction by Date of Birth, or book a consultation for a full reading.
This calculator gives you a directional reading. Kundli Milan — traditional Vedic matchmaking — is a full-form compatibility analysis.
Kundli Milan considers 36 gunas (qualities) across 8 categories: Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakut, and Nadi. It also checks for Manglik dosha, Nadi dosha, and compatibility at the chart level—including the navamsa chart, the marriage chart in Vedic astrology.
A score of 18 out of 36 is the traditional minimum for marriage. A score above 24 is considered a strong match. Above 30 is rare and considered very auspicious.
This online love calculator covers the core layers of this system with the information you enter. A full kundli milan requires your birth time, birth place, and a reading from a trained astrologer who can interpret the charts in context.
If your score here is below 50% and you are considering marriage, I would strongly recommend a full kundli compatibility consultation before making a final decision. Some doshas can be resolved with remedies. Others indicate genuine incompatibilities that warrant a clear understanding.
A couple came to me a few years ago — both from the same city, both professionals, a 3-year relationship. On paper, they looked well-suited. Their families approved. But they had recurring, unresolved conflicts around decision-making and emotional expression.
When I ran their charts, their nakshatras were in an Ashtam Tara relationship — the eighth category in the Tara compatibility system, which indicates significant stress and obstacles. Their Graha Maitri score was also weak: one partner's moon lord was neutral to the other's, but the second partner's moon lord was inimical to the first.
The score: 48 out of 100. Not catastrophically low. But the specific combination — Ashtam Tara plus weak Graha Maitri — explained exactly what they were experiencing. The conflict was not about personality. It was structural.
We worked on remedies. The couple also used this clarity to change how they framed their disagreements — understanding that the friction was inherent, not a matter of personal fault. They married. Last I heard, they were doing well — not because the incompatibilities disappeared, but because they understood them.
A score tells you what to look for. It does not tell you what to do about it. That is what a consultation is for.
The calculator gives you a starting point. A personal reading goes further.
In a consultation, I review both charts in detail — including the navamsa (D9) chart, the 7th house and its lord, Venus's placement, and the current Dasha period for both individuals. I check for Manglik dosha, Nadi dosha, and other factors that do not appear in an online score. I also look at the timing: when is the most auspicious period for your relationship to move forward?
If your score is above 70% and you feel confident, that's great. If you have questions or moderate results, book a one-to-one reading for clarity.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. The date-of-birth analysis uses Vedic nakshatra and rashi compatibility — the same system used in traditional kundli milan. The name-based analysis uses Vedic numerology, assigning each letter a numerical value based on its vibrational frequency.
The FLAMES calculator on this site is a name-based game that produces one of five outcomes (Friends, Love, Affection, Marriage, Enemies, Sister/Brother). It is a fun exercise. This love calculator is a numerology and astrology-based compatibility tool. They serve different purposes and use different methods.
No. A lower score highlights where friction is likely to appear. Many couples with moderate scores build strong, lasting relationships by clearly understanding their differences. A low score is a reason to look more carefully — not a verdict.
Yes. For arranged marriage, I would recommend entering both dates of birth and running the full compatibility check. For anything above a moderate score — and especially before a final decision — a full kundli milan is worth doing. This calculator is a useful first filter.
Your nakshatra is the lunar mansion the moon occupied at the time of your birth. In Vedic astrology, the moon governs the mind, emotions, and inner nature. When two nakshatras are compatible, the emotional rhythms of both people tend to sync naturally. When they are not, emotional misunderstandings are more frequent — even when the couple genuinely cares for each other.
For the name-based score: just your names as commonly used. For the full Vedic compatibility score, your dates of birth. For a full kundli milan: date, time, and place of birth for both people. If you do not know your birth time, the date-of-birth reading still gives a strong directional result.
