Sun sign compatibility gives you a starting point. Aries and Leo get along because both are fire signs. Taurus and Cancer find common ground because both want security. That much is well known. But sun signs only show about 10% of the picture.

In Vedic astrology, real compatibility comes from comparing full birth charts. I look at your Navamsa D9 chart, the 7th house, Venus and Mars placements, and your current dasha timing. Two people with a "bad" sun sign match can have a deeply compatible Navamsa. Two people who look perfect on paper can have a 7th house clash that shows up in every serious relationship they enter.

Which planets decide love compatibility?

When I open a kundali for a compatibility reading, four placements tell me most of what I need to know.

• Venus — Governs how you give and receive love. A weak or afflicted Venus often shows up as emotional distance or poor timing in relationships.
• Mars — Controls passion and physical attraction. Venus-Mars chemistry between two charts is one of the clearest signs of genuine pull between two people.
• Moon — Reflects emotional needs. Two people whose Moons are in compatible nakshatras tend to understand each other without having to explain everything.
• 7th house and its lord — The 7th house is the house of marriage and partnership. Whatever planet sits there shapes what kind of partner you attract and what challenges you face.

Rahu in the 7th house often brings intense, magnetic attraction that doesn't always settle into something stable. Saturn there tends to delay marriage but often produces committed, long-lasting bonds once it happens. These nuances don't show up in any sun sign reading.

Which zodiac signs are most compatible in love?

The most compatible pairs tend to follow elemental harmony. Fire signs — Aries, Leo, Sagittarius — bring out each other's energy. Earth signs — Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn — build stability together. Air signs — Gemini, Libra, Aquarius — connect through intellect. Water signs — Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces — share deep emotional understanding.

But in my experience, some of the strongest couples I've worked with had what looked like an incompatible sun sign match. A Scorpio-Aquarius pair looks difficult on paper. In the right charts, that tension creates something unusually dynamic. And I've seen two Libras lose themselves because neither person takes initiative.

Sun sign compatibility vs kundali matching — what's the difference?

Sun sign compatibility compares one factor between two people: your birth month's zodiac sign. It's fast and useful as a broad indicator.

Kundali matching — called Ashtakoot Milan in the Vedic system — compares 36 points across two birth charts. It covers mental compatibility, emotional temperament, physical attraction, shared life goals, and longevity. The total score out of 36 gives a far more complete picture.

For marriage decisions, I always recommend a full kundali match. Sun sign comparisons are fine for understanding general chemistry. They're not enough for a life decision.

Can opposite zodiac signs be compatible?

Yes — and often very much so. In Vedic astrology, opposite signs share the same axis and often balance each other. Aries and Libra. Taurus and Scorpio. Gemini and Sagittarius. Each pair has natural friction but also a magnetic pull that can build something strong if both people are self-aware.

The key is dasha timing. If both partners are in compatible planetary periods — say, both in Venus or Jupiter dashas — an opposite-sign match can work beautifully. If one person is in Rahu dasha and the other in Saturn, even a highly compatible sun sign match will feel hard.

Dasha timing is the part most compatibility tools ignore. It's the part I check first.

How accurate is this love compatibility calculator?

The calculator gives you a zodiac-sign reading based on your sun sign. It's a real starting point — the scores come from a professional astrology API, not a random generator.

That said, it has limits. It doesn't know your birth time, rising sign, Moon sign, or current dasha. Two people with the same sun signs can have completely different chart profiles depending on when and where they were born.
