In my fifteen years of Vedic practice, I have seen thousands of families living in exactly this state. The conflict has no clear cause. Every conversation turns into an argument. The same people who once lived in harmony cannot stay in the same room without tension building.
In most of these cases, the kundli tells a clear story. A specific planetary combination — dormant for years — has activated. Someone's Mahadasha has shifted. The grah (planetary) balance in the household's collective chart has tipped. This is what we call Grah Kalesh: disturbance caused by planetary imbalance rather than personal failure.
This guide explains how Grah Kalesh works astrologically, which planetary combinations cause which type of conflict, and what remedies — puja, mantra, and practical upay — restore peace in the home.

The word Grah means planet. The word Kalesh in Sanskrit means agitation, disturbance, or suffering arising from an external force. Grah Kalesh, therefore, is not simply household conflict — it is conflict that has a planetary origin.
Every household has a collective energy shaped by the birth charts of its members. When malefic planets are placed or transit sensitive positions across these charts simultaneously, the household's combined energy shifts. Patience reduces. Triggers appear smaller. Reactions become disproportionate.
This is why the same family that lived peacefully for ten years can suddenly descend into daily fighting — not because people changed, but because the planetary environment changed. Understanding this distinction is the first step toward solving the problem rather than assigning blame.
Ghar Mein Kalesh Ke Jyotish Karan
Not all Grah Kalesh looks the same. The nature of the conflict — whether it is explosive anger, cold silence, chronic suspicion, or emotional withdrawal — tells me which planet I am dealing with before I even open the kundli.
| Grah (Planet) | Kalesh Type | Affected Relationship | Primary Remedy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mangal (Mars) | Short temper, physical aggression, sudden fights | Husband–wife, brothers | Mangal Shanti Puja, Tuesday Hanuman worship |
| Shani (Saturn) | Chronic coldness, silent resentment, long grudges | Father–son, in-laws, spouses | Shani Beej Mantra 108× every Saturday |
| Rahu | Paranoia, suspicion, obsession, manipulation | Husband–wife, mother–daughter | Rahu pacification, black sesame donation |
| Ketu | Emotional detachment, indifference, withdrawal | Spouses, parent–child | Ketu puja, kusha grass, sesame offering |
| Chandal Yoga (Rahu + Moon) | Extreme emotional volatility, irrational outbursts | All family members simultaneously | Chandra + Rahu shanti, Monday fast |
This mapping matters for treatment. Performing a Shani puja for a conflict that is actually Mangal-driven will not produce results. The puja must target the specific planet whose energy is fuelling the dispute.
Kundli Mein Kalesh Yoga — Specific Combinations
A single malefic planet in a sensitive house is often not enough to produce serious Grah Kalesh. What I look for are yoga combinations — two or more planetary conditions that amplify each other.
The 4th house governs the home, domestic peace, and the mother. Mangal here creates aggression within the household. If this Mangal is also aspecting the 7th house (spouse), both the mother-in-law relationship and the marital relationship become sites of conflict simultaneously.
The 7th house governs marriage and partnerships. Shani here creates chronic dissatisfaction, coldness, and emotional distance between spouses. The conflict often does not look like fighting — it looks like two people living parallel, disconnected lives. This is harder to recognise as Grah Kalesh because there is no visible argument.
When Shani and Rahu conjoin in the natal chart — particularly in the 1st, 4th, or 7th house — the result is accumulated karmic tension that erupts repeatedly. The same arguments happen cyclically. Resolution appears, then the conflict returns within weeks. This pattern almost always indicates Shrapit Yoga.
The Moon governs emotional responses. Rahu here distorts emotional perception — the person interprets neutral actions as hostile, reads indifference as rejection, and reacts disproportionately. In a household where two or more members have this yoga active simultaneously, emotional volatility becomes the permanent atmosphere.
When malefic planets occupy both the 3rd and 5th houses — flanking the 4th house on both sides — the house of domestic peace is said to be under Papakartari Yoga. The household becomes a site of relentless pressure with no relief visible from either side.
Dasha Timing — Kalesh Kab Activate Hota Hai
'Hamari family mein pehle sab theek tha. Achanak kya ho gaya?' — This is the question I am asked most often.
The answer almost always lies in the Dasha calendar. A kalesh yoga in the natal chart can remain dormant for years. It activates when the Mahadasha or Antardasha of the planet involved begins. A person with Mangal in the 4th house may live without visible domestic conflict for twenty years. When their Mangal Mahadasha begins — or a partner's Mangal Antardasha starts — the dormant yoga becomes active. The same chart that was quiet suddenly produces daily aggression.
I check the Dasha calendar for all major family members before diagnosing Grah Kalesh. Knowing which Dasha is active tells me how long the difficult period will last and which puja intervention will produce the fastest relief.
Saas-Bahu Kalesh — 4th Aur 7th Bhav Ka Sangharsh
Saas-bahu conflict is one of the most common forms of Grah Kalesh I see, and it has a specific astrological architecture.
In a woman's kundli, the 4th house governs the mother — and after marriage, the mother-in-law who steps into that position. The 7th house governs the husband and the marital relationship. When both of these houses are simultaneously afflicted — particularly by Mangal, Shani, or Rahu — the two most important female relationships in the household enter conflict with each other.
The affliction is rarely symmetrical. In some cases, the saas (mother-in-law) has an afflicted 5th house (house of children/son), making her emotionally possessive of her son and resistant to the daughter-in-law's influence. In other cases, the bahu (daughter-in-law) has Rahu in her 4th house, which means she enters the new household with deep-seated suspicion and difficulty accepting authority structures.
Remedies for saas-bahu kalesh must address both charts. Treating only one side produces partial results. I typically recommend a combined Navgrah Shanti Puja for the entire household, along with specific Mangal or Shani remediation for the individual whose chart is the primary driver.
Pati-Patni Mein Kalesh — 7th Bhav Aur Mangal Dosha
Marital conflict has a different astrological signature than other family conflicts. It almost always involves the 7th house, its lord, and the planets placed in or aspecting it.
Mangal Dosha — Mars placed in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house of the natal chart — is the most widely discussed cause of marital tension in Vedic astrology. In my clinical experience, Mangal Dosha alone rarely produces daily conflict. It is when Mangal Dosha coincides with an active Mangal Antardasha, or when both spouses have afflicted 7th houses with incompatible planetary placements, that chronic fighting begins.
Venus's afflictions also play a role most practitioners overlook. Venus governs love, harmony, and mutual appreciation. When Venus is combust (too close to the Sun), conjunct Saturn, or placed in the 6th or 8th house, the natural affection between spouses diminishes. Arguments begin filling the space where warmth used to be.
If you and your partner are fighting consistently, I would ask you this: when did it start? If you can pinpoint a specific time period — a year, a season — I can almost certainly match that to a Dasha or transit shift in one of your charts. That information tells us exactly which planetary energy to address.
Grah Kalesh Nivaran Puja — Vidhi Aur Process
The puja for Grah Kalesh differs from a standard Navgrah puja in one important way: it must be tailored to the specific planet identified as the cause. A generic shanti puja addresses all planets equally. That is less effective than a targeted intervention.
The full names, gotra, rashi, and nakshatra of all major household members are stated. This binds the ritual to the collective household energy, not just the individual who booked the puja.
All nine planets are invoked and given ritual presence. The specific afflicting planet receives extended attention — 108 mantra repetitions with dedicated offerings.
Mangal Kalesh → Hanuman Puja. Shani Kalesh → Shani or Bhairav Puja. Rahu Kalesh → Durga Puja with black sesame offerings. The deity governs the planetary energy being addressed.
Navgrah samidha, kala til, sesame oil, guggal dhoop. The havan closes with Purnahuti, sealing the protective energy for the household.
After the puja, specific Vastu recommendations for the home — placement corrections that reduce the ongoing architectural contribution to the conflict. A puja addresses the planetary cause; Vastu corrections address the environmental one.
For online clients, the puja is conducted with Sankalp taken in your name. A video of the key steps is recorded and sent. Prasad — Vibhuti, Puja coins, Tilak — is dispatched by courier.
Ghar Mein Shanti Ke Liye Mantra
Two mantras I recommend to every Grah Kalesh client. The first addresses the general household energy. The second targets the planet identified as the primary cause in the kundli. Recite both daily for 40 days after the puja.

In my practice, I always combine puja with simple daily upay that any family can perform at home. These are not superstitions — each one has a specific Vedic rationale. They work by reducing the environmental and planetary triggers that sustain the conflict between puja sessions.
Vedic basis: Shani Dosha pacification. Saturday is Shani's day; mustard oil is Shani's preferred offering. The lamp at the entrance prevents Shani's malefic energy from entering the home.
Vedic basis: Nazar nivaran. Lemon and chilli create an energy barrier at the threshold. The combination absorbs incoming negative energy before it enters the household.
Vedic basis: Accumulated negative emotional energy in a home is a physical-energetic phenomenon. Sea salt is a natural absorber. This is documented in Atharva Vedic protective practice.
Vedic basis: Hanuman's energy governs Mangal. Reading Hanuman Chalisa together as a family creates a shared protective field. The collective act is itself a bonding ritual that works against the isolation Grah Kalesh produces.
Vedic basis: The Moon governs emotional reactivity. Where emotional outbursts are disproportionate to triggers, Chandra is invariably weak or afflicted. Monday Moon worship reduces the emotional volatility that turns minor disagreements into serious conflicts.
Pt. Anil Acharya Ji Kaise Kaam Karte Hain
My approach to Grah Kalesh is diagnostic before it is prescriptive. I do not recommend a generic puja without first understanding the specific planetary configuration driving the conflict in your household.
I review the birth charts of the primary family members involved. I identify the Kalesh Yoga, the afflicting planet, the active Dasha/Antardasha, and the Navamsa chart for marital conflicts.
I tell you specifically which planet is causing the conflict, which house is afflicted, and when this configuration became active. Most clients recognise the timeline immediately — it matches when the fighting began.
I prescribe the specific puja (not a generic one), the specific deity, the planet remedy, and the daily upay for your household. Available online and in-person at my Surat location.
Most clients report visible improvement within 2–3 weeks of the puja. For long-standing Grah Kalesh (3+ years), full resolution typically takes one complete Antardasha period.
Online clients receive a puja video, prasad by courier, and a written upay plan. I serve clients across India and the Indian diaspora in the UK, USA, UAE, and Canada.

Ghar mein sukh hona chahiye. Jab ye nahi hota — jab baar baar wahi ladaai hoti hai, wahi tanaav, wahi doori — tab kuch baat ki zarurat hoti hai jo in logon ko, iss parivaar ko samjhe.
In fifteen years of practice, I have seen families who had spent years in daily conflict restore genuine peace within weeks with the correct puja and upay. The condition is not permanent. The planetary configuration that activated it will shift. The question is whether you address it now or wait for the Dasha to end on its own.
Addressing it now is faster. And it is possible from wherever you are.
