You want one answer. A year. A sign. Something real.
Vedic astrology provides answers through planetary timing found in your kundali at birth.
I have done over 5,000 consultations in 15+ years. Timing of marriage is one of the most common questions I receive. And one of the most answerable — if you know where to look.
This article covers how I predict marriage timing, key planets and houses, and what delays mean in a kundali.
In Vedic astrology, marriage is not controlled by a single planet or house. Three houses work together.
The 7th House is the primary house of marriage. It shows your spouse, the nature of your partnership, and when marriage is likely. The planet that rules your 7th house is called the 7th Lord — it is the most important planet for marriage timing in your chart.
The 2nd House represents family life, domestic happiness, and established partnerships. It supports and confirms marriage.
The 11th House represents fulfillment of desires and gains. When the 11th house is activated at the same time as the 7th, marriage becomes very likely.
When these three houses align through planetary periods and transits, that is when marriage happens.
If you want to understand whether your marriage will be a love marriage or an arranged one, read our detailed guide on "Will I have a love or arranged marriage?" Click here to explore how the same planetary logic applies, but with different house combinations.
Not all planets are equal when it comes to marriage. These five are the most important.
Venus is the natural significator of love and marriage for men. A strong, well-placed Venus in your chart supports a timely marriage. Venus in the 7th, 2nd, or 11th house is a very positive sign.
Jupiter is the natural significator of marriage for women. It also represents a husband figure in a woman’s chart. A well-placed Jupiter in Kendra or Trikona positions supports a good and timely marriage.
Moon represents emotions, relationships, and domestic life. The nakshatra your Moon is placed in affects the type of partner you attract and when emotional readiness for marriage develops.
Saturn can delay marriage when it aspects or occupies the 7th house. This is not always bad — Saturn marriages often come with stability and longevity. But patience is required.
Rahu and Ketu can create unconventional marriages, inter-caste or inter-religious unions, or sudden, unexpected events related to marriage.
The most accurate method in Vedic astrology for timing marriage is the combination of Mahadasha and Antardasha (planetary periods) with Jupiter and Saturn transits over the 7th house.
Your Mahadasha (main planetary period) sets the overall theme of a time period in your life. Marriage is most likely to happen during the Mahadasha of Venus, Jupiter, the 7th Lord, or the 2nd Lord.
During Saturn, Rahu, or Ketu Mahadasha, marriage may face complications or delays. The Antardasha offers a more specific time frame.
Jupiter is the planet of blessings and expansion. When Jupiter transits over your natal 7th house, your Ascendant, or your natal Venus or Jupiter, marriage opportunities open up strongly.
Jupiter changes signs once every 12 months. In 2025–2026, Jupiter’s transit is particularly significant for Aries, Cancer, and Capricorn Ascendants seeking marriage.
Saturn’s transit over the 7th house or 7th Lord can bring marriage — but only after Saturn “tests” the situation. If Saturn is already transiting your 7th house and Jupiter simultaneously blesses it, the conditions are extremely ripe.
The Navamsa (D9 chart) is the chart of marriage and spouse. Even if your birth chart shows marriage potential in a given year, the Navamsa must confirm it. I always check both charts before giving a marriage prediction.

Here is a general guide based on the Ascendant sign. This is a starting point — not a substitute for a full kundali reading.
Aries Ascendant (Mesh Lagna): 7th Lord is Venus. Marriage timing is often tied to Venus Mahadasha or strong Venus transits. Ages 24–28 and 30–34 are common windows. Jupiter in Libra or Aries brings strong marriage opportunities.
Taurus Ascendant (Vrishabh Lagna): 7th Lord is Mars. Marriage often occurs during a Mars Mahadasha or sub-period. Can be early or after a short delay. Watch for Mars transiting the 7th house in combination with Jupiter’s blessing.
Gemini Ascendant (Mithun Lagna): 7th Lord is Jupiter. Marriage is blessed when Jupiter itself is strong and transiting auspicious houses. These natives often marry in their late 20s or early 30s.
Cancer Ascendant (Kark Lagna): 7th Lord is Saturn. Delay is common for Cancer Ascendants. Marriage often comes after age 28 or during Saturn’s own Mahadasha. The wait is worth it — Saturn marriages tend to be stable and long-lasting.
Leo Ascendant (Singh Lagna): 7th Lord is Saturn. Similar to Cancer, delays are possible. Marriage often happens between the ages of 28 and 35.
Virgo Ascendant (Kanya Lagna): 7th Lord is Jupiter. When Jupiter is strong and unafflicted, marriage can come early. Rahu’s influence on Jupiter can delay or complicate it.
Libra Ascendant (Tula Lagna): 7th Lord is Mars. These natives can have early marriages, often during Mars or Venus Dasha. The chart needs careful checking for Mangal Dosha.
Scorpio Ascendant (Vrishchik Lagna): 7th Lord is Venus. Venus Mahadasha brings strong marriage indications. Can be romantic and passionate, but Ketu's influence on Venus delays things.
Sagittarius Ascendant (Dhanu Lagna): 7th Lord is Mercury. Marriage is often intellectual and comes during Mercury Dasha or when Mercury is strong in transit.
Capricorn Ascendant (Makar Lagna): 7th Lord is Moon. Marriage is emotionally driven. Moon Dasha or Jupiter transiting the 7th brings marriage windows.
Aquarius Ascendant (Kumbh Lagna): 7th Lord is Sun. Marriage can come during Sun Mahadasha or when Sun is strong in transit — often in the natal Sun’s sign or exaltation.
Pisces Ascendant (Meen Lagna): 7th Lord is Mercury. When Mercury is strong and the 7th house is unafflicted, marriage comes smoothly, often in the late 20s.
Many people worry when marriage is delayed. In Vedic astrology, delay has specific causes. Knowing the cause also reveals the remedy.
Saturn in or aspecting the 7th house is the most common cause of delayed marriage. Saturn adds responsibility, seriousness, and karma to marriage. It delays but does not deny.
Mangal Dosha (Kuja Dosha) occurs when Mars is placed in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house from the Ascendant, Moon, or Venus. It can cause friction in relationships and delay marriage. Mangalik natives are best matched with other Mangalik partners.
Rahu or Ketu in the 7th house brings unconventional circumstances around marriage. The person may have intense but complicated relationships, or marriage may come about in unusual ways — a foreign partner, a sudden decision, or an unexpected meeting.
Weak or afflicted Venus in a man’s chart, or weak or afflicted Jupiter in a woman’s chart, reduces the strength of marriage timing indicators.
Shani Sade Sati (the 7.5-year Saturn transit over the Moon) often delays or complicates marriage if it coincides with the marriage window.
For men specifically, late marriage has additional astrological indicators. Read our detailed article on powerful remedies for delayed marriage for boys, which covers the specific planetary combinations responsible and the most effective Vedic solutions.
If your kundali shows delays in marriage, these Vedic remedies can help remove obstacles.
Chant the Venus Beej Mantra:“Om Draam Dreem Draum Sah Shukraya Namah” — 108 times daily on Friday mornings. This strengthens Venus and removes obstacles to men’s timing for marriage.
Chant the Jupiter Beej Mantra:“Om Graam Greem Graum Sah Guruve Namah” — 108 times daily on Thursday mornings. This strengthens Jupiter and supports women’s marriage timing.
Worship Lord Vishnu on Thursdays. Offer yellow flowers and chant the Vishnu Sahasranama. Jupiter is strengthened through Vishnu worship.
Fast on Fridays and offer white sweets or milk to Goddess Lakshmi. This is particularly effective for removing Venus-related delays.
Perform Navgraha Puja if multiple planets are creating delays. A proper Navgraha puja aligns all nine planets and opens blocked energy around marriage.
Wear a diamond or white sapphire (after proper consultation) to strengthen Venus. Do not wear any gemstone without a kundali reading — the wrong stone can worsen delays.
I have seen these remedies work for hundreds of clients in my 15+ years of practice. But remedies work best when combined with a proper kundali analysis — because the remedy must match the specific planetary cause of the delay.
One of my clients — a 31-year-old woman from Pune — came to me worried about delayed marriage. She had three proposals fall through in two years.
After reading her kundali, I found Saturn aspecting her 7th house from the 10th, and Rahu in the 7th itself. Her Jupiter was also running a sub-period of Rahu.
I advised her to wait 8 months — until Jupiter transited out of Aries and into Taurus — and to strengthen Jupiter through Thursday fasting and the Jupiter Beej Mantra.
She got married 9 months later, in early 2025. The husband was from a different state, and they had met through a mutual friend unexpectedly — exactly the kind of unconventional meeting that Rahu in the 7th often brings.
This is what a proper kundali reading can reveal. Not just the year — but the circumstances, the type of person, and the remedy if there is an obstacle.
Marriage timing is one question. The type of marriage is another.
Vedic astrology can indicate with reasonable accuracy whether your chart supports a love marriage, an arranged marriage, or an inter-caste union. The 5th house (romance), the 7th house (spouse), and the 11th house (fulfillment of desires) all play a role here.
If Venus and Rahu are strongly connected in your chart, or if the 5th and 7th lords are conjunct, love marriage is more likely. If Saturn dominates the 7th house and Venus is placed in a conventional sign, arranged marriage tends to be the outcome.
Our love marriage specialist page covers the specific planetary combinations that indicate love marriage and how to overcome family opposition when it arises.
While timing tells you when, the 7th house and Navamsa tell you who.
The sign on your 7th house cusp, the planets placed there, and the position of your 7th Lord all describe your future spouse — their physical appearance, nature, profession, and the kind of relationship you will have.
For example, a Libra Ascendant native with Mars in the 7th often attracts a dynamic, ambitious, and sometimes short-tempered partner. A Cancer Ascendant with Jupiter in the 7th often marries a wise, well-settled, and religious person.

A general article can tell you the principles. But your kundali tells you the truth.
Your marriage timing depends on your exact birth date, time, and place. Two people born on the same day can have completely different marriage timelines based on a one-hour difference in birth time.
In a personal consultation, I analyze:
* Your 7th house and 7th Lord in the birth chart
* Your Navamsa (D9) chart for marriage confirmation
* Your current Mahadasha and Antardasha
* Jupiter and Saturn transits over your key marriage houses.
* Any doshas — Mangal Dosha, Shani’s aspect, Rahu/Ketu involvement
* Remedies specific to your chart if delays are present
I have helped thousands of people understand their marriage timing — and more importantly, feel at peace with it.

At what age will I get married according to astrology?
There is no single age that applies to everyone. In Vedic astrology, marriage timing depends on your Ascendant, 7th Lord, and the planetary periods running at a given time. Most people marry between the ages of 22 and 35, but some kundalis indicate late marriages, and that timing is often more stable and fulfilling.
Which planet is responsible for marriage?
Venus is the primary planet of marriage for men. Jupiter is the primary planet of marriage for women. The 7th Lord (the planet ruling your 7th house) is equally important for both. All three must be considered together.
Can astrology predict the exact year of marriage?
Yes — to a significant degree of accuracy. By combining Mahadasha analysis, Antardasha, and Jupiter/Saturn transits, marriage timing can be narrowed to a 1–2 year window in most cases. A further analysis of monthly transits can narrow it to a specific season.
What if my 7th house is empty?
An empty 7th house does mean no marriage. Look at the sign in the 7th house and its ruling planet — that planet’s placement and Dasha timing will indicate when marriage comes.
Does Mangal Dosha always delay marriage?
Not always. Mangal Dosha has many levels — high, medium, and low — and many exceptions in classical texts. A person with Mangal Dosha is best matched with another Mangalik, which cancels the dosha. Proper kundali matching resolves this completely.
What is the fastest remedy for a delayed marriage?
There is no universal fastest remedy — it depends on what is causing the delay in your specific chart. That said, strengthening Venus (for men) or Jupiter (for women) through mantra, fasting, and puja is a good general approach. A kundali reading will tell you the exact cause and the most effective remedy.
I am 30+, and I am not married — is it too late?
Absolutely not. I have helped clients find excellent marriages in their 30s and even 40s. In Vedic astrology, every person has a marriage window — and some windows simply open later. The key is understanding why, and whether remedies can help accelerate it.
