People who come to me with suspected black magic (kala jadu) usually share a similar story: sudden misfortune occurs without an obvious cause—business fails, relationships end, unexplained health problems arise, disturbed sleep sets in, and a persistent sense of dread persists. These experiences are genuine. Vedic astrology provides a real framework for understanding and addressing them.
This article covers seven authentic Vedic mantras for removing black magic. Each includes the correct chanting protocol — the day, time, count, direction, mala, and offerings. I have also covered the astrological indicators that show when a person is genuinely vulnerable to negative energies, and which mantras work best based on your birth chart.
Most articles on this topic give you a list of mantras with no context. That is not enough. The mantra you choose — and how you chant it — should match your planetary situation. That is what Vedic astrology adds.

In Vedic astrology, the term kala jadu covers a range of intentional negative practices — from tantra-based curses to nazar (evil eye) to targeted rituals meant to obstruct a person's planetary blessings.
The Atharva Veda — the fourth Veda — deals most extensively with protective practices against negative energies. It contains hymns composed specifically as shields against abhichara (black magic), drishti dosha (evil eye), and bhoot-pret (malevolent spirits). These are not superstitions. They are ancient, documented practices within the Vedic tradition.
From an astrological standpoint, black magic does not simply happen to anyone. Certain planetary conditions create vulnerability. Certain Dasha periods open windows of susceptibility. Understanding this is the first step in building an effective defense.
In a birth chart, the following combinations raise the possibility of negative energetic influence:
Saturn (Shani) in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house — especially in a malefic nakshatra — can indicate recurring obstacles that do not respond to normal effort. The 8th house governs hidden enemies and occult energies.
Rahu in the 1st, 4th, 6th, or 12th house — Rahu governs illusion, hidden forces, and foreign negative energies. A heavily afflicted Rahu creates susceptibility to negative psychic influence.
Ketu afflicting the Moon or the Ascendant lord — Ketu governs past-life karmas and psychic sensitivity. When Ketu weakens the mind's protective shield, external negative energies are more likely to enter.
Moon in Mrigashira, Ardra, Jyeshtha, or Ashlesha nakshatra — these nakshatras carry heightened psychic sensitivity. A person with their natal Moon in these stars can be more receptive to external energetic influence — for better or worse.
Ongoing Rahu Mahadasha or Shani Mahadasha — during these periods, black magic effects are heightened, making timely remedies crucial.
I always check these indicators before recommending mantras. The right mantra for a Rahu-afflicted chart is not the same as the right mantra for a Saturn-afflicted chart.
1. Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra — The Master Protective Mantra
This is the most universally powerful protective mantra in the Vedic tradition. It comes from the Rigveda (RV 7.59.12) and the Yajurveda. It invokes Lord Shiva in his aspect as the destroyer of suffering and conqueror of negative forces.
ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्। उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान् मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात्॥ Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhin Pushtivardhanam, Urvarukamiv Bandhanaan Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat. |
Meaning: We worship the three-eyed Lord Shiva, who nourishes and sustains all beings. May he free us from the bondage of death and suffering, as a ripe cucumber is freed from its vine — leading us to immortality. |
Why this works against black magic: The mantra invokes Shiva's tryambaka (three-eyed) form — the third eye that sees through all deception and negative energetic manipulation. The image of the cucumber freed from its vine directly refers to cutting the bonds of negative tantric attachment.
Day | Monday (Somavar). Saturday for Saturn-related black magic. |
Time | Between 4 AM and 6 AM (Brahma Muhurta) — the hour of highest spiritual receptivity. |
Count | 108 times minimum. For severe cases: 1,008 times over 40 consecutive days. |
Direction | Face North or East while chanting. |
Mala | Rudraksha mala only. |
Offerings | White flowers, water from a copper vessel, bilva leaves. |
Additional | Chant before a Shiva image or Shivalinga. Light a ghee diya before beginning. |
Best for | Saturn and Ketu afflictions. Rahu Mahadasha. Chronic health deterioration linked to negative energy. |
2. Hanuman Chalisa — Protection Against All Negative Forces
Hanuman is the protector against bhoot-pret, kala jadu, nazar, and all forms of negative energy. No negative force remains in a space where Hanuman's name is genuinely chanted. aslo see our vashikaran mantras guide
The key protective verse:
भूत पिशाच निकट नहिं आवै। महाबीर जब नाम सुनावै॥ Bhoot Pishach Nikat Nahin Aavai, Mahaveer Jab Naam Sunaavai. |
Meaning: No ghost or evil spirit can come near when the name of the great Hanuman is uttered. |
Day | Tuesday (Mangalvar) and Saturday (Shanivar). |
Time | Sunrise. Evening after sunset is also effective for active protection. |
Count | 7 times daily for protection. 11 times for active removal. 108 times for severe cases. |
Direction | Face South — Hanuman rules the Southern direction. |
Mala | Coral or red sandalwood mala. |
Offerings | Red flowers, sindoor, sesame oil lamp. |
Additional | Light a mustard oil diya at the home's entrance on Tuesdays and Saturdays. |
Best for | Rahu afflictions. Bhoot-pret disturbances. Home environments that feel heavy or consistently unlucky. |
3. Kaal Bhairav Mantra — For Removing Tantric Black Magic
Kaal Bhairav is the fierce form of Shiva who governs time, the destruction of evil, and the dissolution of negative tantric forces. When black magic is performed through formal tantric ritual — using a photograph, hair, or personal items — the Kaal Bhairav mantra is the most targeted counter.
ॐ कालभैरवाय नमः Om Kaal Bhairavaya Namah |
Extended form:
ॐ ह्रीं बटुकाय आपदुद्धारणाय कुरु कुरु बटुकाय ह्रीं ॐ नमः Om Hreem Batukaya Apadudharanaya Kuru Kuru Batukaya Hreem Om Namah |
Meaning: I bow to Kaal Bhairav. May he who rescues from all crises act swiftly in my protection. |
Day | Saturday only for this mantra. |
Time | After sunset. Midnight chanting is most powerful for tantric black magic removal. |
Count | 108 times. Maintain for 21 or 41 consecutive Saturdays for persistent cases. |
Direction | Face South. |
Mala | Black hakik (agate) mala. |
Offerings | Black sesame (til), mustard oil lamp, black cloth. |
Important | This mantra must be chanted with unwavering resolve. Not suitable for casual chanting. |
Best for | Specific tantric rituals performed using your name, photograph, or personal items. Saturn + Rahu combination in the chart. |
4. Durga Saptashati — Sarvabaadhaa Vinirmukto
Durga Saptashati (from the Markandeya Purana) contains the most comprehensive protective frameworks in the Vedic tradition. The following verse from the Phala Shruti section directly addresses the removal of all afflictions and black magic:
सर्वाबाधाविनिर्मुक्तो धनधान्यसुतान्वितः। मनुष्यो मत्प्रसादेन भविष्यति न संशयः॥ Sarvabaadhaa Vinirmukto Dhana Dhaanya Sutaanvitah, Manushyo Matprasaadena Bhavishyati Na Sanshayah. |
Meaning: By the grace of Devi, the devotee shall be freed from all afflictions and blessed with wealth, grains, and progeny. There is no doubt about this. |
Day | Friday (Shukravar) and during Navratri. |
Time | Early morning, after bathing. |

Offerings | Red cloth, red flowers, coconut, panchameva. |
Additional | Light a ghee diya facing the Devi image. Place kumkum on your forehead before chanting. |
Best for | Black magic targeting wealth, fertility, family peace, or marriage. Venus-afflicted charts. |
5. Sudarshana Mantra — For Evil Eye and Drishti Dosha
The Sudarshana Chakra is Lord Vishnu's divine disc — the weapon that cuts through all negative forces and illusions. This mantra is particularly effective against nazar (evil eye) and drishti dosha, the most common form of negative energetic influence in daily life.
ॐ सुदर्शनाय विद्महे महाज्वालाय धीमहि। तन्नो चक्रः प्रचोदयात्॥ Om Sudarshanaaya Vidmahe Mahajwalaaya Dheemahi, Tanno Chakrah Prachodayaat. |
Meaning: We meditate on the Sudarshana Chakra, the great blazing one. May the divine disc illuminate our understanding and lead us forward. |
Day | Sunday (Ravivar) and Wednesday (Budhvar). |
Time | At sunrise, facing East. |
Count | 108 times. For evil eye removal: 27 times while circling a salt-water lamp around the affected person. |
Direction | East. |
Mala | Tulsi mala. |
Offerings | Tulsi leaves, yellow flowers, panchamrit. |
Additional | After chanting, sprinkle the area with water charged by chanting this mantra 11 times over it. |
Best for | Sudden onset of bad luck with no clear astrological cause. Highly effective when young children are affected. |
6. Gayatri Mantra — The Daily Protective Shield
The Gayatri Mantra is the core protective practice of the Vedic tradition. It invokes the divine intelligence of Savitar (the solar deity) to purify the mind, aura, and environment. Daily Gayatri chanting builds a continuous shield that prevents negative energies from taking root.
ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः। तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यम्। भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि। धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात्॥ Om Bhur Bhuvah Swah. Tat Savitur Varenyam. Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi. Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayaat. |
Meaning: We meditate on the divine light of the supreme Sun. May that divine intelligence guide our minds. |
Day | Daily. No exceptions. |
Time | Sunrise (most powerful), midday, and sunset — the three Sandhya periods. Brahma Muhurta (4–6 AM) is ideal. |
Count | 108 times minimum at sunrise. Even 11 times daily is protective. |
Direction | East at sunrise. North at other times. |
Mala | Rudraksha mala or sphatik mala. |
Offerings | Arghya — offer water to the Sun while chanting in the morning. |
Additional | For active black magic removal, perform Gayatri Homam with cow ghee on Sundays. |
Best for | Daily protection and aura-building. Critical during Rahu, Saturn, or Ketu Mahadasha. |
7. Baglamukhi Mantra — When a Specific Person Is the Source
When you know — or strongly suspect — that a specific person is directing negative energy at you, Baglamukhi is the mantra of choice. She is the eighth Mahavidya — the Vedic goddess of paralysis of enemies. Her power neutralizes negative forces at their source, not just at the point of impact.
ॐ ह्लीं बगलामुखी सर्वदुष्टानां वाचं मुखं पदं स्तम्भय जिह्वां कीलय बुद्धिं विनाशय ह्लीं ॐ स्वाहा। Om Hleem Baglamukhi Sarvadushtanam Vacham Mukham Padam Stambhaya Jihvam Keelaya Buddhim Vinashaya Hleem Om Swaha. |
Meaning: O Baglamukhi, paralyze the speech, movement, and intellect of all those who cause harm. May their negative force be stilled at its source. |
Day | Tuesday or Saturday only. |
Time | After sunset. Most effective in the night hours. |
Count | 108 times. Full sadhana: 1,25,000 repetitions (advanced practice — consult a practitioner first). |
Direction | South or West. |
Mala | Haldi (turmeric) mala. Yellow is Baglamukhi's colour. |
Offerings | Yellow flowers, besan laddoo, turmeric paste. |
Important | This mantra is for protection and neutralization — not for causing harm. Protective intent only. |
Best for | Black magic from a known source. Rahu-Shani combination in the 6th house of enemies. |
Mantras are most effective when combined with physical home purification practices as support. aslo read our how to remove vashikaran
Rock salt (sendha namak) cleanse: Dissolve rock salt in water and mop all floors weekly, especially on Saturdays. Pay extra attention to corners, thresholds, and spaces under beds.
Camphor (kapoor) burning: Burn camphor in every room daily while chanting Hanuman Chalisa or Gayatri Mantra. Camphor rapidly purifies the atmospheric energy of a space.
Neem leaves: Place fresh neem leaves at the entrance of the home. Replace every Saturday. Neem is one of the most naturally protective plants in the Vedic tradition.
Black sesame offering: On Saturdays, offer black sesame seeds, mustard oil, and a black cloth at a Shani temple. This reduces Saturn-based vulnerability—the astrological condition that makes black magic more likely to take hold.
Sea salt bath: Add rock salt to your bathwater and soak for 15–20 minutes every Saturday. This cleanses the aura of accumulated negative energy.
A man came to my office some years ago. He was in his early forties — a successful textile trader in Surat who had watched his business collapse in under two years. Three contracts lost to rivals who should not have beaten him on price or quality. Two key employees had left without a clear reason. His health had deteriorated into chronic fatigue that no doctor could diagnose.
I pulled his chart.
He was running Rahu Mahadasha with Saturn Antardasha. Rahu occupied his 7th house — partnerships and open enemies — in Ardra nakshatra, one of the nakshatras with heightened psychic sensitivity. Saturn sat in his 12th house of hidden losses with an aspect to his natal Moon. This chart is significantly open to negative energetic influences during this Dasha period.
I prescribed Kaal Bhairav mantra chanting on Saturdays for 41 weeks. Maha Mrityunjaya mantra daily at Brahma Muhurta. Rock salt floor mopping weekly. A Baglamukhi mantra practice for 11 Tuesdays, given that his competitors were the probable source.
By the fourth month, he had recovered two of the three contracts. By the eighth month, his health had returned to baseline.
The right mantra at the right time, matched to the right planetary situation, is a specific intervention — not a generic remedy. That distinction is the core of this work.
The following symptoms — when multiple appear together, particularly during a Rahu, Saturn, or Ketu Mahadasha — warrant closer investigation:
Physical Signs
Sudden, unexplained fatigue not linked to any illness or lifestyle change.
Recurring nightmares featuring snakes, fire, or dark figures
Physical pain that moves around the body without a clear diagnosis
A persistent feeling of heaviness in the chest or shoulders
Life Circumstance Signs
Abrupt business failure with no clear market or operational reason
Relationships breaking apart despite no fundamental conflict
Miscarriage or fertility problems in an otherwise healthy couple
Repeated accidents or near-misses within a short window of time
Environmental Signs
Animals are behaving strangely near your home without a clear cause.
A persistent bad smell in a specific room despite thorough cleaning
Household members are falling ill sequentially.
Not every streak of bad luck is black magic. When your planetary chart aligns with these symptoms, it may require serious investigation.
Can I chant these mantras without a guru's initiation?
The Maha Mrityunjaya, Hanuman Chalisa, Gayatri, and Sudarshana mantras do not require formal initiation. You can begin them at home following the protocols above. The Baglamukhi and Kaal Bhairav mantras are stronger practices — the basic form is safe, but an extended sadhana should be done under guidance.
How quickly do these mantras show results?
Mild negative energy — evil eye, nazar — can lift within days of consistent chanting. Severe black magic in place for years may take several months to fully neutralize. Do not stop because you do not feel immediate results. Consistency matters more than intensity.
Which mantra is best if I do not know my birth chart?
Start with the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra and Hanuman Chalisa. These are universally protective and do not require chart-specific knowledge to be effective. Chant them daily at Brahma Muhurta.
Can women chant during menstruation?
The Hanuman Chalisa and Gayatri Mantra can be mentally chanted during menstruation, even if physical chanting is paused. The Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra can be chanted at all times. Baglamukhi and Kaal Bhairav mantras should generally be paused during this period.
Should I combine multiple mantras?
Yes — in fact, I recommend it. Maha Mrityunjaya daily at sunrise. Hanuman Chalisa on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Kaal Bhairav on Saturdays for severe cases. Do not mix different mantra protocols in a single sitting, but alternating them on appropriate days is both safe and effective.
What if I have been chanting for weeks and see no improvement?
This usually means the situation requires a deeper diagnosis. A chart reading can identify which planet is the source of vulnerability, whether the black magic is linked to a known person, what Dasha period you are in, and whether additional pujas — Kaal Sarp Puja, Rahu Shanti, Bhairav Puja — would accelerate the removal process.
If you have been chanting consistently for 3–4 weeks and see no improvement, the situation likely requires a deeper diagnosis. A chart reading can identify:
Which specific planet is creating the vulnerability in your chart
If the black magic is linked to a known person, the source's birth chart can be cross-referenced with that person's.
Which Dasha period are you in, and how long does the window of susceptibility last
What additional rituals or pujas would accelerate the removal process?
In some cases, what appears to be black magic is a severe Rahu Dasha producing Rahu-like effects. In others, it is a genuine tantric attack. Both require different approaches. An experienced astrologer can clearly distinguish between them.
